Venice - the city of romance and love

Many people call Venice the most romantic city on Earth, and it really is. The emotional atmosphere here is amazing, enchanting, bewitching ... Silence and tranquility reign on the streets, which are only disturbed by the screams of lonely seagulls, the rustling of the waves, the bells of the San Marco Cathedral and the melodic singing of gondoliers.

Locals start their morning with a cup of aromatic espresso. Its smell is in the air almost around the clock, since every meal in any restaurant or cafe traditionally ends with a portion of an invigorating drink. You can join the contemplation of the sunrise over the numerous canals and bridges anywhere in the city. Problems with finding a suitable coffee shop never arise here. However, there is one special cafe in Venice, which is considered its symbol and is world famous - the Florian cafe. It began to work in 1720 and for its almost three-century history has received such famous people as Carlo Goldini, Lord Byron, Joseph Brodsky, Hemingway.

Any visitor will find entertainment in the city, be it an inveterate shopaholic, a religious pilgrim or an art lover. To see the famous masterpieces of various cultural eras, it is enough to go on a tour of famous museums - the Naval, Archaeological, Peggy Guggenheim Museum, etc. You can get to know the unique architectural style of Venice in Piazza San Marco, an amazing complex of buildings, including the Clock Tower, the Doge's Palace and the Cathedral of San Marco. There are two columns at the edge of the square, symbolizing the gateway to Venice. At the top of one is a statue of St. Theodora, and on the other, a winged lion. It is considered the heraldic symbol of the city and is depicted on many booklets, postcards, envelopes.

The largest number of tourists come to the city at the end of winter, when the traditional Venetian Carnival takes place here. Its history began in the 18th century, and the event itself was timed to the day of the winter solstice. Elegant costumes and masks, the meaning of which was to conceal obvious social differences between the participants, were considered an integral part of the holiday.

The best place for shopping in Venice is considered to be the same Piazza San Marco. There are exclusive shops where you can buy high-quality Italian shoes and bags, as well as clothes from well-known world brands. However, the best souvenirs from Venice are considered to be Murano glass products - various vases, dishes, mirrors and ornaments made by craftsmen by hand.
